In which Chris Matthews entertains the crowd

I'd say words can't describe the concentrated crazy that is Cristi Adkins on MSNBC this afternoon, but in fact, there is a word to describe the part where Nurse Ratchett here mistakes Chris Matthews for a child with dirty ears. And that word is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I doubted Matthews' sense for doing a segment down on the PUMA protest line, but I was wrong -- this is great television, and a great glimpse into the bunny-boiling mindset that seems to be driving "these ladies," as Chris called them with such arch joy. God, I do love me some convention coverage.

I was reading on another person's blog that last night Joe Scarborough was talking about McCain closing the gap on Obama and Olbermann was heard to remark "Jesus, Joe, get a shovel"

Oh yeah: It got purely nasty. Can't imagine what it's liek to go to work in that environment; presumably all the employees who aren't Matthews, Olbermann or Scarborough are housed in another building, 'cause I can't feature the size of the hangar necessary to accomodate those three overinflated, explosion-prone heads.

And if my girl Rachel Maddow turns out like that, I am gonna cry and cry and cry and cry.

Well, if I can be frank, Olbermann seems like he is turning into more and more of a dick as the months go by.

No argument here. Tired, stressed, ego overinflated? Who can say, but in the past couple of months he's become a whole lot less fun to listen to. (One wonders if it's the success, perhaps; this is a guy who apparently retains Kali as his career counselor, and maybe sustained success is making him itchy. Or maybe it really is that uber-suck work environment. Or maybe Tim russert was the only thing keeping him in check, and... who knows?)

And when you watch him doing what he's doing of late, think fondly of Jon Stewart, who is NOT exhibiting anything like the same burnout. Which, damn. I thought the little feller's head was gonna melt the night of the 2004 elections, but he just kept slugging...
